Upcoming Guide to South Asia
Babel is commissioning the South Asian Babel Guide which will be 3 volumes, overall editor will be Subashree Krishnaswamy of the Indian Review of Books (Chennai). We seek potential collaborators and copublishers in South Asia and North America.
‘India alone has a dozen major languages. Babel will bring out three accessible volumes, covering a few languages each. The first volume will feature the south Indian languages, Tamil, Kannada, Telugu and Malayalam, and will also include writings in Tamil and Sinhala from Sri Lanka. The second volume will focus on Urdu and Punjabi from both India and Pakistan, as well as Hindi. The third volume will include Bengali — both writings from India and Bangladesh —, Oriya, Marathi and Gujarati. Each book will feature around 100 to 125 reviews and overview essays for the literatures in the main languages.’
If you are interested in this project or have any questions or comments regarding this project, please use the babelguides.com contact form and we will respond to your inquiry promptly.
