What we do

This site offers three main things;
1000 plus reviews from published (and to-be-published) printed Babel Guides. These are (we hope you’ll agree) high quality reviews specifically written for the guides which identify many of the major, best and most interesting books from different language literatures available to read in English. The Babel Guide aim is to open the door onto this part of the world’s cultural heritage. We also offer here listings (and the opportunity to buy) most of the currently available books in English translation from all the literatures we cover (an ever-expanding list).

The printed Babel Guides available to buy from the site or from terrestrial bookshops or in libraries and their PDF equivalent which are available via email from this site only (an exact printable replica of the printed guide but without the covers) apart from making available the reviews and book information in an often more convenient form include hard-to-find data on books not currently in print.

We are also building a one-stop point of contact for literature in English translation in general. We are welcoming and seeking as collaborators on the site other publishers active in world literature in english translation as well as anyone else interested in this field and in particular literatures. Forums are included for your live comments and enquiries.
